I am so excited to work with you and your child this year! I thought you might like to know a little bit about me.
I grew up in southern New Jersey, and I try to visit my mom and sisters there every chance I get. I met my husband, Bob, in college at Cornell University in central New York, and we moved to the Hampton Roads area in 2003 to go to graduate school at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg. We have a daughter, Violet, who will be four years old in November.
I have been teaching elementary school for 11 years, and this is my first year teaching elementary coding at Westside. My goal as a teacher is to help students become lifelong learners who are prepared for the challenges facing young people in the 21st century.
Elementary coding at WSES is designed to be fun, collaborative, and creative! My goal is to inspire students to explore how technology improves real world relationships, connections, and daily life and how we can create technology instead of only consuming it.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns throughout the year - I believe that purposeful communication and collaboration between parents and teachers is key to student success. I am looking forward to a great year together!
